Trane Acquires Arctic Chiller Group


Davidson, N.C., September 13, 2019 – Trane®, a leading global provider of indoor comfort systems and services and a business of Ingersoll Rand, announced that it has acquired Arctic Chiller Group, a Canadian-based HVAC manufacturer, specializing in high efficiency air- and water-cooled magnetic bearing, modular, and process chillers for commercial HVAC and process cooling applications.

Arctic Chiller Group Awarded EnVisioneer of the Year 2019

Danfoss has named Arctic Chiller Group the winner of its tenth annual EnVisioneer of the Year award competition. Arctic Chiller Group is using Danfoss Turbocor® oil-free magnetic bearing centrifugal compressors in the development of its air- and water-cooled chillers with new Arctic Boost option to dramatically reduce first costs of equipment as well as energy consumption.

Launched in 2010, the annual EnVisioneer of the Year award competition recognizes North American original equipment manufacturers, building owners, municipalities, contractors, and end users that have introduced a new product, opened a new facility, or invested in a building or system upgrade in the past 18 months using Danfoss products or solutions to realize significant energy and environmental savings.

Arctic Chiller Group Wins Award at the AHR Exposition for New Products

Atlanta, GA – January 22nd, 2019

The AHR (Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration) exposition is held alongside the ASHRAE Winter Conference. The conference is a bi-annual engineering event at which the work of ASHRAE is done. ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers) is responsible for writing and updating the standards around construction, safety, and energy efficiency within the industry. The ASHRAE Innovation Award is a highly-coveted engineering design award given in ten categories for design excellence, innovation, and market impact. This year Arctic won finalist in two categories, cooling and heating. “We are very pleased to have been recognized from among hundreds of companies that had entered,” said Changiz Tolouee, Arctic Chiller Group’s Vice President of Engineering.

Arctic Chiller Group Makes Splash at the W.E.E.C. Show

Charlotte, NC – October 22nd, 2018

W.E.E.C. (World Energy and Engineering Congress) was held at the Charlotte Convention Center in downtown Charlotte, NC this year. Arctic had great traffic and a lot of interest in the new models of chillers being shown in the booth. The air-cooled SuperMod all variable speed modular chiller and the water-cooled PolyTherm (a new six-pipe modular chiller/heater) were both on display. Arctic was asked to speak at one of the technical sessions for Professional Development Credits, important to Professional Engineers. Arctic chaired the session “Modern Modular Chiller Applications and Compressor Options,” delivered by Senior VP of Sales and Marketing, Mark Rogan.

AHR Expo Innovation Awards 2019 FinalistThe Innovation Awards recognize the industry’s most inventive products, systems and technologies.  Each year, products in 10 different categories are recognized for being some of the HVACR industry’s most innovative products, systems and technologies.

Arctic Chiller Group is thrilled to be recognized as finalists in two categories:  Cooling, with Arctic Cool (ACA and ACW Magnetic Bearing Chillers with Arctic Boost Option); and Heating, with ArctiChill (SuperMod all variable speed modular chiller platform).

This is the first year that Arctic Chiller Group has entered the competition.
